Candidates for this position must have the skills, training, and certifications necessary to be a fully functioning truck mechanic. Truck Mechanics will operate both in the shop and using mobile repair truck. Candidates will be provided with a fully stocked service trucks with the necessary tools.
Position Description :
Must maintain professionalism and customer service expectations that we have at STO.
Perform repairs roadside and at remote customer locations out of a maintenance service vehicle.
Will determine vehicle and trailer condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, along with identifying worn and damaged parts needing repair or replacement.
Perform preventive maintenance and repair work necessary on fleet vehicles and trailers including diesel engine system diagnostics.
Fill out vehicle inspection reports and maintenance records.
Ensure compliance with federal and state vehicle repair requirements.
Must be able to work independently or fill in for Lead Mechanic as needed.
Maintain a clean and organized working environment.
Mechanics must be consistently above a 70% Efficiency Rating.
Compensation will be based upon percentage of labor generated.
Qualified candidates should be able to display a proven history of safe driving, heavy lifting and have knowledge of the commercial trucking industry.
Candidates must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license. CDL license is preferred.
Certification from a diesel mechanic trade school or a minimum of 3 plus years of related experience.
Must submit to a drug test as a condition of employment

Purpose: Directly responsible for all tire related services throughout fleet including mounting, installation, inventory, preventative maintenance, repairs, and documentation.
This position is bonus eligible! Hours: M-F 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Following the proper guidelines for the mounting and dismounting of tires (including inflation and deflation).
Installing and removing mounted truck tires throughout fleet.
Installing new/retread tires in shop
Performing road calls
Repairing truck tires and identifying non-repairable units.
Ensuring preventative maintenance best practices including yard checks, visual inspections, tread depth checks, air pressure checks, identifying abuse and irregular wear patterns, and all related documentation.
Counting accurately all tire inventories, including new tires, retreads, and casings.
Controlling tires throughout the facility, including identification of units needed for removal or repair, and storage of inventory.
Moving trucks throughout garage area and general vicinity of fleet yard.
Maintaining the highest degree of safe work practices, including following all safety guidelines and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Must become proficient with the “Commercial Tire Service Training Program” which is sponsored by the Tire Industry Association.
Must possess the technical skills to mount, dismount, deflate, inflate, repair, and handle commercial truck tires. This includes the ability to inspect and identify wheel components, and install, handle, and remove rim wheels.
Must adhere to all safety guidelines including the use of restraining devices or barriers during inflation (tire cages).
Must be able to identify any issues that may cause a tire to be deemed “un-repairable”, and any other related equipment problems that may cause a hazardous situation for the customer.
Must have the ability to drive a commercial truck
Position involves a substantial degree of physical work including the handling, lifting, and stacking of commercial truck tires and the operation of an air gun.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds to heights ranging from waist high to above the head.
Position will encompass excessive standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, lifting and carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling. The job requires good finger dexterity, vision, hearing, speaking, and the ability to control powered tools.
Position functions in different environments including indoors and outdoors. Outdoor work will experience seasonal temperature changes (extreme heat and cold), and other unpredictable weather elements. Work will be performed on a variety of surfaces including concrete, pavement, unpaved parking lots, slopes, uneven terrain, and slippery terrains.
Position functions in areas of dirt, dust, fumes, noise, and vibrations.
Position is non-exempt, with occasional overtime needed, especially during the busy season.

The position requires a CDL-A License, and a verifiable, safe driving record.
Delivery of product to our Fleet store locations throughout Indiana, Ohio and Michigan with 48' trailers.
Responsible for the accurate and complete delivery of products including tires, oil, and related packaged products to our STO facilities
Start times will vary, but you can expect a set schedule each week.
You will be involved with loading and unloading your trailer
Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL-A license
Must be able to lift 75 pounds
Must have a safe and verifiable driving record
Must meet federal commercial driving qualifications, including possessing a valid DOT Medical Card and being at least 21 years of age.
